Be Intentional

From this day forward I commit to focusing to thrive, not just survive.
During this season of social distancing, I am finding the need to be more intentional than ever. Who knew that the coronavirus would be the catalyst to re-focusing on the people and things that matter. How did I get so far away from my dream and the things I enjoy? Being intentional is the order of the day.
Where do I go from here?

Slow down and regroup. The opposite of intentional behavior is haphazard behavior- doing things on the fly, without purpose, and direction. Being intentional is all about putting purposeful, healthy control back into our lives in a time of uncertainty and seemly no control. Bringing this level of intention to life requires a plan of action and commitment.
Healthy control leads the way.
Is there such a thing a “healthy control” and direction? The word control has received a bad rap, rightfully so, since it has been misused for personal gain and satisfaction in both personal and professional relationships. Unhealthy control occurs when we are not focusing on the right things- like our plan of action, and we allow others to take control of matters that should be in our own hands. We teach people how to treat us and we are not standing up for our values. The end result, we lose control.
Time to take it back! Let’s flip it! Be intentional. Evaluate where you are today and where you want to go tomorrow. Your destiny, your career, your future- you decide. Good intentions are never enough.
“When you become intentional you take responsibility for where you are and who your are.”
-John C. Maxwell
Now, are you ready to be intentional?
Let’s Get Started:
- Understand who you are. Know your worth.
- Identify your values. Know what you believe in.
- Identify where you are putting your trust.
- Dream big! Identify you purpose and passion in life.
- Set goals. Seriously, in writing- totally committed goals. A plan.
- Put it all in perspective. This is a checkpoint.
- Take action, and keep moving forward.
This is not an easy process. Surround yourself with positive influencers who are moving in a similar direction for a better tomorrow. Someone helped me get here, and it wasn’t by accident. Mentors, coaches, and leaders have taken the time to guide me and show me the way. I will continue to fight for my place and learn.
What is keeping you from taking your next step now?
